Weglot’s New AI Feature Translates Your Site in Your Own Voice

For anyone managing a multilingual website, the struggle is real: you want fast, high-quality translations — but not at the cost of losing your brand voice. Now, Weglot has introduced a major upgrade aimed at solving exactly that.

Available now to all paid Weglot users, the new AI Language Model feature offers custom-trained translation that reflects your tone, terminology, style, and content objectives. It’s not just better translation, it’s translation that sounds like you.

“This feature is the first step in AI and translation model customization before an overhaul we’re working on, which will be based entirely on generative AI,” said Weglot co-founder Remy Berda.

A smarter translation engine that learns from you

Unlike generic engines like Google Translate or DeepL, Weglot’s AI Language Model adds a smart, personalized layer on top of Weglot’s AI translation engines. It learns from your brand identity — including your brand description, tone of voice, and target audience — and past translation behavior, including your Weglot glossary, manually-reviewed edits, and any custom instructions you define.

Initial tests carried out with an MVP showed very positive feedback on translation quality — a major step toward more relevant, natural, and contextualized results.

Plus, the more you use it, the better it gets. You can tell it to use a specific tone of voice and allow brand-specific phrases or terminology. The result: translations that read like they were written by someone on your team.

Setting up your AI language model: A quick walkthrough

It takes just a few clicks to activate Weglot’s new AI Language Model feature. Select your project in the Weglot dashboard and click “Language model.”

You’ll see an auto-generated website description based on your site’s content. You can then choose your preferred tone of voice — Informal, Neutral, or Formal — and specify your audience — General, Technical, or Non-Technical.

Advanced options let you decide whether to use your existing Weglot glossary and previously validated manual translations (recommended). You can enter additional instructions, such as:

  • Since my audience has technical knowledge, you can use industry-specific words in English if it feels natural.
  • Shorten headlines where possible.
  • Adopt a friendly tone of voice in blog posts, but ensure the language used across main pages is formal.

Full control, seamlessly integrated

Weglot’s approach keeps you in control. You can apply your AI model selectively—on specific translations in your dashboard—or soon, in bulk across your entire site. A “GenAI” tag highlights translations enhanced by your model, making them easy to filter and review.

There’s no extra charge. AI credits are included in all paid Weglot plans, scaled to your plan’s word count (e.g. 200,000 AI words/month on the Pro plan). That’s enough to enhance most—or all—of a typical website each month.

Free users can preview the feature but must upgrade to use it.

What’s next: Bulk tools, collaboration, and Weglot V2

This launch sets the stage for an even bigger overhaul. Coming soon: bulk application of your AI model across all translations, AI-powered review workflows, collaborative proofreading, automatic rewriting and reformulation, template customization by page type, and quality scoring.

By 2026, Weglot plans to roll out “V2,” an ambitious overhaul of the platform that puts AI at the heart of its architecture. Users can expect a simplified user experience, automated adaptation to the context of your brand, and intelligent, flexible tools to manage translations at scale.

The overall objective? To make multilingual management easier and elevate translation quality to near-native levels. It’s a big step forward for multilingual sites — and marks Weglot’s entry into a new era where the personalization of translation becomes a strategic lever for international brands.
