Inside Enqueue: A New Developer-Focused WordPress Event Coming to APAC

A new event is set to launch in Sydney this November, aimed at providing the kind of professional development space WordPress engineers in the Asia-Pacific region rarely get access to.

Enqueue, happening on November 28, 2025, is a one-day, single-track event designed for developers, architects, and technical leads working with WordPress in complex environments. It’s a collaboration between The Code Company, an enterprise agency, and Web Directions, which has been running web conferences in Australia for nearly two decades.

With a program focused on infrastructure, DevOps, editorial workflows, performance, and block development, Enqueue is designed for engineering-minded professionals working with WordPress at scale.

“LoopConf is the only thing that has ever really existed like this before,” said Ben May, Managing Director of The Code Company. Inspired by the original U.S.-based event, May hopes to bring a similar energy and expertise to Australia, one that prioritises technical depth, real-world learning, and industry relevance.

“There are a lot of really experienced developers here who have never been to a WordCamp and probably never will. That’s part of the experiment: can we put on something for them?”

The event will feature 8–12 talks, mostly around the 30-minute mark, with a curated mix of frontend, backend, infrastructure, admin UX, and product-focused sessions. Talks will be recorded and available via Web Directions’ Conffab platform, with livestream and on-demand ticket options available.

With Web Directions handling the logistics, from ticketing and venue setup to coffee carts, May has been focused on shaping the speaker lineup. Speakers will include a mix of local and international talent, including many from well-known companies in the WordPress space. Given the timing around U.S. Thanksgiving, May said he’s looking to Europe, the UK, South Africa and beyond.

“We want to bring in some outside flavor,” he said, adding that international speakers will help make the event more appealing to media companies like NewsCorp, Nine, and other corporate WordPress users.

“The advantage of running a paid event is that we can actually pay and sponsor high calibre speakers to come here and spend some time in Sydney,” he said. “We’re able to offer travel support and cover their time, so we’re not just asking people to volunteer their expertise.”

Enqueue isn’t aiming for massive numbers. May said the goal is 50–100 attendees, with the ability to scale to 200 if needed. More important than size is usefulness, said May.

“It’s not about competing with WordCamps or LoopConf,” he said. “It’s about putting something on the calendar that’s genuinely useful for people working in WordPress day-to-day, especially in this region.”

Early bird tickets are available until August 31. More details are available at webdirections.org/enqueue.
